Nursing and Healthcare
Under the direction of the family physician, a nurse employed by the Lunenburg Health Service is available to provide health assistance in the home or at the Health Service office in Victoria.
Following instructions of the client’s physician, the nurse provides whatever healthcare may be necessary and guidance for family members caring for the patient between her visits.
Nursing services include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Monthly injections for chronic problems
- Monitoring medications
- Assisting the critically and chronically ill
- Changing sterile dressings
- Monitoring and teaching diabetic care
- Assisting patients recently returned from the hospital
For these and any other needs arising out of illness or injury, the Lunenburg Health Service is ready to help.
Lending of Sick Room Equipment
Of equal importance in providing healthcare is the lending, on a temporary basis, of hospital equipment and articles for the ill or injured.
These items have been purchased by the Health Service or have been donated by citizens in the county.

- Wheelchairs
- Walkers
- Crutches
- Bedside Commodes
- Porto-Lifts
- Canes
- Bedside Tables
How do residents of Lunenburg County request nursing care or available sick room equipment?
Arrangements for the nurse to visit in the home or for the use of equipment can be made through the family physician or by contacting the Health Service office in Victoria. All of these services are made available free of charge to anyone in Lunenburg County.
